Granny’s Verse

But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.” — Luke 6:35-36 (NASB)

I was glancing through my bible this morning and stumbled across this verse with a handwritten note beside it reading “Granny’s verse.” After her passing I discovered many ways she lived out this verse. She was never one to share other’s indiscretions and she was extremely merciful. I find myself challenged to be merciful when I’m in similar situations. Showing mercy can result in temporal and painful losses, but I now understand that those material losses do not compare to the greatest loss of all. The greatest loss of all is not knowing Him! I can pour out my heart to my Lord as my Granny demonstrated many times through daily prayer and devotion time. I may not have all the answers on how God will redeem wrongs and make them right, but I have hope that He CAN and WILL in His Time!
